Jack Dougherty is a Professor of Educational Studies at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. He teaches about data visualization through the Cities Suburbs and Schools Project and the DataViz seminar, where students intern with non-profit organizations and agencies. Derek Eder is an entrepreneur, developer and one of the leaders of the civic technology community in Chicago. He is a partner at DataMade, a civic technology company, which builds open source technology using data to empower journalists, researchers, governments and advocacy organizations. He also makes civic apps with Open City and runs Open Gov Hack Night, Chicago's weekly event to build, share, and learn about civic tech.
